YORC Polymer BLDC Smart Motor

The spinning heart of YORC's automation product line is our infinitely configurable BLDC smart motor. The motor has a large central through-hole that accepts a variety of open source inserts. These inserts allow the motor to be rapidly reconfigured for a variety of use cases. Learn more about our open source inserts here.

The motor has an onboard processor that handles the complex motion control calculations necessary for modern automation solutions. With a build in encoder and torque sensing, it's perfect for automation. The motor is also easy to control using standard Python programming.

We are also pioneering the use of polymer rotor systems. Our patent pending technology allows us to build high performance, fully integrated smart motors completely in-house. YORC Polymer BLDC Smart Motor

YORC motors are highly integrated BLDC motors using field-oriented control (FOC) commutation. As compared with brushed motors or stepper motors, BLDC motors offer much higher efficiencies and power densities. FOC is widely used in industrial motor control for its improved torque response, higher top speed and higher efficiency.

A 32 bit ARM processor handles the motion control and motor commutation. Super efficient and powerful transistors power the motor coils, and high strength rare earth magnets maximize the torque. It all gets controlled from a standard USB port, either from a PC or an embedded platform.

Our patent pending, highly integrated motor design, extensive use of engineering polymers, and in-house manufacturing allow us to produce a sophisticated motor at a low price point. From there, we leverage mass produced linear motion products coupled with our zero-backlash design for high accuracy automation without the high costs.
